Angaadi Theru (2009) is a Tamil forthcoming film directed by film director, Vasanthabalan starring Mahesh and Anjali in the lead roles. The cinematography is by debutant Richard Maria Nathan, while music is scored by G. V. Prakash Kumar and Vijay Antony. Actress Sneha plays a guest role as herself in the film.

Aval Appadi ( Ranjith,Vinith Srinivas,Janaki Iyer)
A beautiful but simple song with good lyrics. The subtle usage of the violin enhances the song to a great extent. Vijay Antony has laid a lot of emphasis on melody in this song. This song will appeal to genuine music lovers. The only concern I have is Vijay Antony’s melodies follow the same pattern and are very predictable.

Kadhaigali Pesum ( Benny Dayal and Hamsika)
A terrific duet sung by Benny Dayal and Hamsika. The lyrics are very impressive. The music director seems to have lost the plot in the middle of song but overall this is a pleasing song.

Un Perai ( Naresh Iyer, Shreya Ghosal, Haricharan)
Another terrific melody.Naresh Iyer seems to be in good form. Shreya is as usual at her best. The music director has used the flute as his primary instrument in this song. A delightful song.

Kannil Theriyum ( G.V Prakash)
G.V Prakash has tried to emulate Rehman and has failed miserably. The arrangements are misaligned and to add to the misery the music director’s voice does not suit the song.

Yenga Povanno ( Benny Dayal, M.K.Balaji, Janaki Iyer)
A pathos song sung by the new sensation Benny. Balaji and Janaki give him ample support. The song conveys the mood perfectly. Vijay Antony has done a terrific job composing this song.

Karungalli Naaye ( Karthik, Blank Podi,Mahesh)
This looks to be a situation song but it is very passable.

G.V Prakash has come up with another winner. The songs seems to have been made to suit the movie more than anything. Veyil was a terrific entertainer and Angadi Theru has gotten to a good start with a nice music album.G.V Prakash is capable of more but he has definitely made Rehman proud. Vijay Antony has also done a very commendable job.

  1. I believe ‘Aval appadi ondrum’ and ‘Yenge poveno’ were composed by Vijay Antony. And not GV Prakash Kumar. Vijay is also in charge of background music.

  2. Fixed Karthik ! Thanks for the comment.
