Baana Kathadi -Tamil Music Review

Baana Kaathadi (Tamil: பாணா காத்தாடி; English: Kite) is a forthcoming 2010 Tamil film written and directed by Badri Venkatesh. Adharvaa, son of Tamil actor Murali, makes his debut in the film as a lead actor, while Prasanna, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Karunas also play lead roles. Featuring music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Richard Maria Nathan and editing by Suresh Urs, the film, which was launched in March 2009, is to release in 2 July 2010.

En Nenjil ( Sadhana Sargam)
Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar
This is easily the best song of the album. Sadhana Sargam’s mesmerizing voice will definitely haunt you. Yuvan could have toned down the instruments a bit but this is still the pick of the album. The flute has been used to very good effect.

Kuppathu Rajakal (Haricharan, Rahul Nambiar, Sathyan)
Lyricist: Snehan
This is a fast paced song sung by the talented trio of Haricharan , Rahul and Sathyan. The song does not blow you away but decent enough to hold your attention.Lively guitars also adds to the interest.

Oru Paithiyam Pidikudhu (Karthik)
Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar
The versatile Karthik has tried something new with this song and the results are impressive. Oddly Yuvan has tried to reduce the richness of his music by being very selective with his choice of instruments. The lyrics add to the melodious nature of the song.

Thaakkuthe(Yuvan Shankar Raja)
Lyricist: Vaali
A typical Yuvan song with a nice rhythmic beat. This is a foot tapping number which will surely make it to the charts.There is a nice pattern to the song which makes it very stylish.

Ullara Poondhu(Roshini)
Lyricist: Gangai Amaran
This is a song for the front frontbenchers but Roshni does give it her best effort. Yuvan has tried some really bizarre instrumentation patterns.

Overall this is not a bad album and is worth a listen.
