Billa II is an upcoming Indian Tamil gangster-thriller film directed by Chakri Toleti. It is a prequel to the 2007 film Billa and would focus on how David, an ordinary man from the coastal regions of South Tamil Nadu, becomes Billa, a dreaded underworld don, with Ajith Kumar reprising the role of the titular character. It also features Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, Vidyut Jamwal, and Sudhanshu Pandey in supporting roles, all of whom make their debut in Tamil cinema.
The film, which is being produced by Wide Angle Creations in association with the Hinduja Group company IN Entertainment, was officially announced in November 2010, with Vishnuvardhan as the director. Due to conflicting dates, he was replaced by Chakri Toleti, while a new script was penned by a team involving Toleti and Eric Felberg. Filming, which commenced in July 2011 and was completed by December 2011, took place primarily at Goa, Hyderabad and Georgia. Billa II is likely to be release on first week of June and the second trailer would be release on end of May.
Gangster(Yuvan Shankar Raja and Stefny)
Yuvan has tried his best to maintain consistency with the songs by reusing the main guitar part. it definitely works favorably this techno song. This is possibly the theme song describing the rise of the protagonist from a normal person to the Gangster.
A mesmerizing song sung by the awesome Shweta Pandit. She reminds me of my favorite singer Shreya Ghosal. The tabla , flute and the veena work perfectly together to create the desired ambience . Credit has to be given to Shweta for effortlessly hitting the high notes , a trade mark of Yuvan. This is the pick of the album for me.
Yedho Mayakkam(Yuvan Shankar Raja, Tanvi Shah and Suvi Suresh)
Edward Maya would be proud of this song from Yuvan. This techno pop song is certain to be a huge hit. The beats and the rhythm arrangements are excellent and Tanvi fits the bill perfectly. The nadheswaram is the surprise element in the song but to be fair it blends into the song rather than standing out. Suvi Suresh does his part with the Rap bit.
Madurai Ponnu(Andrea Jeremiah
Andrea is definitely a surprise choice for this native arabic flavored song. Yuvan changes tempo midway into the song and the techno beats fill the speakers along with the Kuthu beats.
Unakkulle Mirugam (Ranjith)
Another philosophical song about evil and good. Ranjith does a fabulous job behind the mike and elevates the mood. The lyrics are impressive considering the theme of the movie. Heavy guitars are the order of the day for this song which focusses on the animal instincts of humans , about the extent to which they will go to survive.
Theme Music (Yuvan Shankar Raja)
Billa meets the Dark Knight in this theme song. Even though Yuvan has been heavily inspired by Hans Zimmer he has certainly made this song his own with his own unique arrangements.
This is definitely not one of the best albums by Yuvan by any stretch but the songs definitely fit the theme of the movie. I am sure the songs will be a big hit once the movie is released.
