Kavalar Kudiyirrupu – Tamil Music Review

A film based on true events ,Kavalar Kudiyirrupu is being made both in Tamil and Kannada . James Vasanthan has scored the music. The music director has played to his strength and there is a strong emphasis on melody .

Appan Policeda (Sunandan, Bharani, Prasanna, Srinivasan, Padmanabhan)
A free flowing and simple song . The song is all about the youngsters who live in a police neighborhood and how much fun they have. The music arrangement takes you to the 80’s. The flute has been used to good effect.

Uyire En Uyiril(Chinmayee)
Chinmayee sings this melody which has a predominant flute presence. This song may not immediately appeal to you but will definitely make an impression in the long run. The keyboard and flute arrangements are perfect.This is the best song of the album to me.

Gangai Nadhi(Bellie Raj, Padmanabhan)
One of the best songs of the album. This song is all about celebrating friendship and the simplicity and the nice rhythm is sure to make the album climb up the charts. If the visual is appealing then this song could possibly end up op top of the charts.

Kodi Kodi Aasaigal(Sharath, Priya Hemesh)
Another melody with a strong keyboard presence. This stylish song is sung entirely by new comers. It is important that new comers are given a chance to make an impact as well so kudos to James.Sharath seems to be a mix of Hariharan and Unni menon.

Thayae…Thayae(Srinivasan)
A pathos song. The tune seems to create an impression but the lyrics are flat. The lyrics should be powerful for a song like this but unfortunately that is not the case. The tune also reminds me of a composition from Rehman.

Even though the album is neat and will satisfy the purists none of the songs actually stand out. I also feel that the music arrangements could have been a lot more richer .The answer could be that James needs to spend more time enhancing the songs and sign up for less movies .

A decent album for melody fans .
