Azagana Neeyum (Naresh Iyer, Manjari Phadnis)
A melodious song with a nice rhythm to it. Naresh Iyer seems to have perfected his Tamil dialect to a great extent. Manjari is a newcomer and she plays second fiddle to Naresh. Yuvan has chosen a very simple tune and created a nice little masterpiece. This is one of my favorite songs of this year so far. Enjoy the guitar !

July Madathil (Mohd. Aslam, Rahul Nambiyar, Tanvi Shah, Priya)

Another impressive rhythmic song sung by the talented Mohd. Aslam. Apart from the decent orchestration the lyrics stand out for its simplicity and quality.Another masterpiece by Yuvan.

Nenjukulla(Shweta Mohan)
A pathos song by yet another new comer Shewta Mohan. Yuvan has chosen a more classic background for this song and he has done a good job out of it. This is a pleasing song with a very nice flow.

Night Is Still Young (Remix) (Krish, Benny Dayal, Preethi)
A pacy song with heavy beats. This song has the scope to be a permanent fixture on the dance floors. Yuvan has not lost control of the song at any point so there is a nice rhythm to it.

Night Is Still Young(Krish, Benny Dayal, Preethi)
A slightly slower version of the previous song . I like the remix version better.

Om Shanthi Om (Remix) (Neha Bhasin)
Yuvan’s permanent favorite Neha Basin with this raunchy song. Yuvan has gone for the rock genre for this song and the end result is very impressive. The beats are fast paced and Neha is equal to the task. Yuvan has been experimenting a lot with these kind of songs and he seems to have mastered the art.

Om Shanthi Om (Neha Bhasin)
Again a slower version of the previous song. The main diffrence is Neha has more scope to exhibit her wide vocal range. Unlike the remix the guitar takes center stage and makes the song more closer to the rock genre as it was originally intended to be.

Uyire Uyire (Javed Ali, Madhushree)
I think Yuvan has chosen this combination for the 4′th album in succession. I am big fan of Javed and Madhusree and they have justified it with a decent rendition. The song is average at best when compared to the rest of the songs.Watch out for the guitar piece in the background.

Yuvan is making the right moves by choosing movies which provide him with creative freedom. This is yet another impressive alum from the talented music director.

An absolute buy.

  1. Uyire Uyire is a very good song. I feel the singers should put more effort in getting the lyrics right. Or the MD should insist that they get the lyrics right. With better rendition the song would have been the best in the album. As you said the guitar pieces in the background are haunting!

Night is still young – Remix version is awesome. Some parts stand out! Especially when the music seemingly pauses and they start “Night is Young” at a higher pitch(starting 1:00). Super! The trance loops are often heard and yet good to listen to. The bass rhythms in lines “Nenjula Nejula” (1:32 – 1:46) are quite good.

Om Shanthi Om sounds better in the original with the laid back tempo and nice drums to match the perfect tempo. The rock song feel is nice.

The first interlude in Azhagana neeyum has a deja vu feeling. I am not able to place where.

  2. Shweta Mohan is singer Sujatha’s daughter and she has sung quite a number of songs in recent times.

  3. Shweta Mohan is not a great singer. Vijay TV’s Super Singer female contestant finalists are way better than her. Only my opinion.
