Paiya (Tamil: பையா ; English: Boy!) is a forthcoming Indian Tamil action film written and directed by Linguswamy, who earlier directed highly successful Tamil films like Aanandham (2001), Run (2002) and Sandakozhi (2005), starring Karthi Sivakumar and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead and Milind Soman and Sonia Deepti in supporting roles. Produced by Linguswamy himself under the banner of Thirupathi Brothers, the film, which has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography and editing handled by Madhi and Anthony respectively, is currently in its filming stage and is expected to release on 14 January 2010, coinciding with Pongal.

Yuvan was missing in action for a bit but he is back big time with this album. The young music director is in his elements and has created some wonderful songs for this album.Melody seems to be the theme of this album and fans of Yuvan will be happy with the end product.

Thuli Thuli (Haricharan, Tanvi)
A soft romantic song sung by the talented Haricharan. The tune reminds me of some old compositions of the music director but it is still refreshing. There is a nice rhythmic beat accompanying the song. This is the pick of the album.

Poongatre Poongatre(Benny Dayal)
A rock song and Benny is the perfect choice. Benny hits the high notes in typical style. This fast paced song is dominated with the a rhythmic guitar and keyboards. The lyrics by Muthukumar are equally impressive

Adada Mazhaida(Rahul Nambiar, Saindhavi)
Again this song reminds of another composition. Rahul has done a decent job. There is a native flavor to this foottaping song. The song does not deviate from the formula of this album , which is to stick to pleasing melodies.Saindhavi actually gets a chance to sing !

Suthudhe Suthudhe( Karthik, Sunitha Saradhy)
The energy that Karthik can bring to the table is amazing. The versatile singer seems to have enjoyed the song and it is clearly visible in his performance. The tune and the music arrangements compliment the lyrics very well.Sunitha does not really play any role in this free flowing song. This song has the credentials to stay on the charts as well.

En Kadhal Solla( Yuvan Shankar Raja, Tanvi)
A tune tailor made for Yuvan. High pitch vocals and pathos reign supreme. I am not a big fan of Yuvan , the singer. His voice definitely has a nice appeal and is unique but he struggles with his pronunciation of certain words.

The female lead singers don’t really play a major role in this album which is slightly surprising. Also there is no fast paced song which could be attributed to the lead actors inability to dance.

Yuvan has tried to play it safe but he has to watch out as his tunes seem slightly repetitive. This is still a high quality album. If the visuals are rich the songs would stay in the charts for a while.

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yogi is Yuvan’s new album. There is a lot of expectation around this movie. I am not a big fan of Ameer the director as he tends to preach a lot for a guy wanting to make a living out of movies. I am sure if folks need advice on how to lead a good life they will not be sitting in a movie theater or listen to film directors. There is a difference in trying to influence people with a good message and trying to impose upon them.Maybe I am tired of these guys who are so under qualified but think that they are so smart and perfect that they think they can start preaching whenever they get a chance. Raijni started this mess and now we are stuck with these guys trying to tell us what is right and wrong. I really do like good movies ( Anbe Sivam is one of my all time favorite movie ) but at the end of the day Kamal made a terrific movie and did not show up in every possible event and tell us what is good and bad. Either way Yuvan does not have a lot of opportunity in this album but he has composed a decent album with some unique orchestration.

Yogi Yogi Thaan(Blazee, Neha Bhasin)
The title song of the album is really loud. Yuvan’s terrific orchestration is the only saving grace.

Yogi Theme- Sarangi(Ustad Sultan Khan)
This is yet another flavor of the title song but I did not find anything innovative.

Seermevum Koovathiley(Ameer, Naveen, Snehan and Jijuba)
A unique Kuthu song and it starts with interesting beats but that’s where the fun stops at least for me.This is not really my brand of music so I was desperately looking for the remote.

Yaarodu Yaaro(Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ustad Sultan Khan)
A slow pathos song . Ustad Sultan Khan is terrific and I really wish Yuvan stops singing. He is a terrific music composer but his delivery style leaves a lot to be desired.

Yogi ( Theme music)
The instrumental version of the title song is the best of the lot. Yuvan has done a Ilayaraja with an amazing flute and violin masterpiece.

I am sure the songs will make more sense when we watch the movie but I would not recommend this album just based on the quality of the music.

Muthirai is an upcoming drama Tamil film starring Nithin Sathya, Daniel Balaji, Lakshmi Rai and newcomer Manjari Phadnis in the lead roles, whilst Kishore of Polladhavan fame plays an important role and Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant makes a special appearance. Directed by Srinath and produced by Aneez Jeeva, wife of late director Jeeva, the film, which was launched in early 2008, is expected to be released in 2009.

    * Aneez Tanveer Jeeva as the Writer
* Saleem as the Cinematographer
* Stun Shiva for the Stunts
* Rajeevan as the Art director
* Anthony as the Editor
* Chaitanya Rao as the Costume designer
* Yuvan Shankar Raja as the Music director
* Snehan, Pa. Vijay & Na. Muthukumar as the Lyricists

Azagana Neeyum (Naresh Iyer, Manjari Phadnis)
A melodious song with a nice rhythm to it. Naresh Iyer seems to have perfected his Tamil dialect to a great extent. Manjari is a newcomer and she plays second fiddle to Naresh. Yuvan has chosen a very simple tune and created a nice little masterpiece. This is one of my favorite songs of this year so far. Enjoy the guitar !

July Madathil (Mohd. Aslam, Rahul Nambiyar, Tanvi Shah, Priya)
Another impressive rhythmic song sung by the talented Mohd. Aslam. Apart from the decent orchestration the lyrics stand out for its simplicity and quality.Another masterpiece by Yuvan.

Nenjukulla(Shweta Mohan)
A pathos song by yet another new comer Shewta Mohan. Yuvan has chosen a more classic background for this song and he has done a good job out of it. This is a pleasing song with a very nice flow.

Night Is Still Young (Remix) (Krish, Benny Dayal, Preethi)
A pacy song with heavy beats. This song has the scope to be a permanent fixture on the dance floors. Yuvan has not lost control of the song at any point so there is a nice rhythm to it.

Night Is Still Young(Krish, Benny Dayal, Preethi)
A slightly slower version of the previous song . I like the remix version better.

Om Shanthi Om (Remix) (Neha Bhasin)
Yuvan’s permanent favorite Neha Basin with this raunchy song. Yuvan has gone for the rock genre for this song and the end result is very impressive. The beats are fast paced and Neha is equal to the task. Yuvan has been experimenting a lot with these kind of songs and he seems to have mastered the art.

Om Shanthi Om (Neha Bhasin)
Again a slower version of the previous song. The main diffrence is Neha has more scope to exhibit her wide vocal range. Unlike the remix the guitar takes center stage and makes the song more closer to the rock genre as it was originally intended to be.

Uyire Uyire (Javed Ali, Madhushree)
I think Yuvan has chosen this combination for the 4′th album in succession. I am big fan of Javed and Madhusree and they have justified it with a decent rendition. The song is average at best when compared to the rest of the songs.Watch out for the guitar piece in the background.

Yuvan is making the right moves by choosing movies which provide him with creative freedom. This is yet another impressive alum from the talented music director.

An absolute buy.

Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography Nirav Shah
Distributed by Ayngaran International

Yuvan Shankar Raja is on a roll with his third straight hit with Sarvam. The music director does a fabulous job when is not caught up with creating music for hero dominated movies with little room for creativity. Yuvan is at his best when is allowed to do what he is good at , which is creating quality music. Sarvam is a highly stylish western album.

Adada Vaa (Ilayaraaja)
The music director has been clearly inspired by a famous western song but to his credit he has made it its own. The prodigy’s father Illayaraja has sung the song . The awesome orchestration and the terrific flute along with the strong rhythm steals the show. This song is very similar to the remix hit from the directors previous movie with Arya.Illayaraja has truly enjoyed crooning for this song. I will be very surprised if this song does not rule the charts for a long time. The pubs will have a field day with this song.

Neethane(Yuvan Shankar Raja)
A soothing melody sung by the music director himself. The lyricist Pa. Vijay is very prominent in this song. The violin is as usual is the instrument of choice and Yuvan has used it to good effect. The keyboard is used to convey the soft notes. The singer has also been able to convey the right emotion with his rendition.

Sutta Suriyanae(Vijay Yesudas)
Vijay Yesudas sings this high pitched song with ease. Yuvan seems to have put in a lot of effort with the orchestration and it is very evident in every song. A fast paced song , this piece is very inspirational.Don’t miss the nice mix of the yesteryear classic Megam Karukuthu.

Kaatrukulle (Yuvan Shankar Raja)
Another haunting melody sung by the music director himself. The song is unique with rain drops as the background. The lyrics are again classy. The dazzling use of the violin and the guitar is the highlight of this sing. The tune is also unique and appeals instantly.

Siragugal (Javed Ali, Madhushree)
A terrific romantic ballet belted by the awesome Javed Ali and Madhusree. It is impossible to not like this soft song. There is a nice rhythm to the song.Javed Ali has to improve his language skills but makes it up with the right emotions and his natural ability. Madushree is very much a clone of Sadhana Sargam and a good one at that.

Theme Music (Instrumental)
A Spanish guitar piece starts off this song and slowly transforms to heavy metal music . The Spanish piece is clearly inspired from the title music of the movie Desperado. Yuvan deserves the credit for the innovation and his ability to fuse different genre’s of music.

A clean performance by Yuvan , this album will be a sure hit amongst the young Tamil population across the globe. A must buy !

Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography Sakthi Saravanan
Distributed by Sun Pictures

Siva Manasula Sakthi is a forthcoming Tamil film directed by Rajesh and starring Jeeva and newcomer Anuya Bhagvath, a student of Pune Film Institute, in the lead roles. It began its first schedule on March 10, 2008.[1] The film is currently in its filming stage and will most probably released on February 14, 2009.

This is yet another delightful album by the young music director.

Thithikum Theeai (K.K & Shwetha)
A peppy song sung by the immensely talented KK and new comer Shwetha. Yuvan has tried to get a nice sophisticated feel to the song and has succeeded in that effort.

Oru Kal (Adnan)
A typical Yuvan song with the keyboard and violin. Adnan has taken care of the vocal part and adds a lot of value with his heavy rendition. The orchestration leaning heavily towards the trance genre is equally up to the mark.

Oru Kal (Yuvan)
The best song of the album sung by the music director himself. It is the acoustic version of the previous song sung by Adnan. The violin piece in the beginning sets the tone for the song. Unlike the previous song this composition has a more serious tone to it with a heavy mix of flute and keyboard. Yuvan favors songs with a mix of high and low pitches and this song is no exception.

Oru Adangapidari (Shankar Mahadevan,Shwetha)
A situational song more than anything else. Shankar Mahadevan is the perfect choice for this kind of song and Shwetha manages to hold her end of the deal. Yuvan has come up with a decent tune to convey the turbulent relationship between the leading pair in the movie.

MGR Ilenge, Nambiar Ilenge (Hari chandran)
Looks like a introduction song for the hero . Again a decent tune which conveys the mood required for the song.

Oru Paarvaiyil (Ranjith)
Yuvan is the king of bit songs and he has retained that with yet another brilliant masterpiece. Ranjith is one of my favorite singers. There is something in his voice which is very appealing. Listen to the violin piece in the middle , even though Yuvan has become very predictable with some of his tunes he has managed to reinvent them with a positive result.

Eppadio Maatikiten (Clinton,Nruthya)
Another peppy song but the melody is still intact. Clinton and Nruthya have sung this song. There is a hip hop interlude to the song . Yuvan has got a nice rhythm going through the entirety of the song.

A decent album by Yuvan. It is not as good as Kunguma Poovum Konjumpuraavum but it is still much better than most of the albums. The story of the movie reminds me of Kanda Naal Mudhal and the music score is also very similar.

It is funny to see SUN TV promote the movies they produce to the top of the music charts. Dhina is a talented music director but it is a big joke to put him in the same league as Rehman , Yuvan and Harris.

If you want to listen to decent songs this album is a safe bet.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is back and is back with a big bang. This is an awesome album and a true reflection of this magnificent artist. The flute seems to the instrument of choice for Yuvan in this album and he has used it to good effect.

Chinnan Sirisu (Javed Ali, Bela Shende)
The best song of the album sung by Javed Ali and Bela Shende. I think this is Javed Ali’s first Tamil song and he had made sure his presence his felt in this melodious song.Bela shinde seems to Yuvan’s latest favorite these days and the artist does not let him down. The lyrics are very simple and down to earth. The tune is also simple with a slight beat in the background.

Kadaloram (Yuvanshankar Raja)
Another haunting song sung by the music director himself. The flute interlude is a master piece by Yuvan and the overall ambiance of the song is perfect. This is a typical Yuvan Shankar Raja song with a nice rhythmic beat with clever pitch changes. This song will remain in the charts for a long time to come.Another terrific soundtrack from the Yuvan – SPB charan fable of music.

Orunimisham (Velmurugan)
A terrific composition. Yuvan has taken a simple song to great heights. It is impossible not to admire Yuvan’s creative orchestration. This song left me wondering why such a talented music director compose song for crappy actors and waste his talent. Velmurugan is perfect for this song and sings it with a lot of passion. A perfect song.

Na Dharmanda (S.P.B)
A decent song . I am sure this is a song introducing the hero. SPB as usual sings it with a lot of energy . The tune is very catchy. It took me back to the 80’s when Illayaraja was ruling the charts.

Kadaloram (SPB Charan)
A repeat song. SPB Charan has done a fabulous song crooning to this song with a lot of passion. If you are not careful you will mistake him for his legendary dad. The flute interlude is so haunting that it will linger in the mind of the audience for a long time to go. The song is all about a youth singing about his lover and the lyrics convey the emotions perfectly.

Muttathu Pakkathil (Venkat Prabhu)
A fast kuthu song.It takes back to the 80’s and Venkat Prabhu has clearly enjoyed singing the song. There is a clear mix of folk and the kuthu style of music making it very enjoyable.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has proved that with the right combination he is a force to beckon with. Rehman is still miles ahead but Yuvan can match the legend if he starts working with right people who promote good cinema and not themselves. The young music director needs to work with Goutham or Manirathnam to get noticed outside of Tamil Nadu. His association with SPB charan is a great move towards that direction. He should start thinking out of the box to get to the next level like his great father. He has the talent he just needs to go that extra mile.

A must buy.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is back with this movie featuring Silamabrasan and Sana Khan. This album is a song for the masses and does not really reflect the talent of the young music director.I really believe the actor influences the music director a lot as there is a lot of similarity in the music scores for all of their films together. The first two albums by Yuvan for Silamabrasan were good but it gets a little tiring to keep hearing the same kind of albums and like Obama as the presidential candidate the audience needs a change.

Silambattam ( Shankar Mahadevan)
This is yet another song which is really stupid showering praising on the lead actor and advising the general public. There is no doubt that there is abundant talent in the Tamil film industry but I really hope this nonsense comes to an end. You never see this trend anywhere except in the south and it is very demeaning to the Tamil industry as a whole. That said Yuvan has come up with a familiar but decent composition and the ever reliable Shankar Mahadevan has done a commendable job.

Nalanthana (Silamabrasan, Earl , Suzi Q)
A forgettable song. Yuvan has taken a shot at remixing this very famous yesteryear song and made a real mess of it.

Machan Machan (Illayaraja,Bela Shinde)
This is a impressive song sung by Illayaraja and Bela Shinde. There is a nice melody to the whole song and Bela has given it her best. Illayaraja’s voice is different to say the least. The lyrics are again tasteless for a song with a nice rhythm to it.This is the only decent song in the album.

Vachukava (Silamabrasan, Suchithra)
Another remix of a famous Rajini song. Silamabrasan’s voice does not match the song at all. The orchestration is not up to the mark either . This is not bad remix attempt but the song did not really impress me.

Where is the party ( Mukesh, Priyadarshini)
A horrible song with horrendous lyrics. The only saving grace is the orchestration and a decent tune.

Overall a very disappointing album by Yuvan. He was making waves with Saroja and Aegan but this album is sure to peg him back from the great progress he had made as a music director . Maybe he should stay away from actors who like to promote themselves and work with folks who concentrate on good story lines and quality. It is evident he has compromised quality to satisfy the lead actor and has failed miserably.

Hopefully the movie is not as pathetic as this music album.

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

This is the third movie for yuvan with Ajith. The first two movies Dheena and Billa were big hits.Yuvan’ s orchestration skills are brought to the fore in this album. Saroja was an interesting album but Yuvan has taken one more step ahead with this album. All the songs are Peppy but strangely there is not even a single slow song in the album.

Hey Salaa (Blaaze, Naresh, Mohammed Aslam)
The best song of the album . Blazee as usual is full of energy in the album. There is a flute interlude in the middle which reminded me of the ‘Mein Hoon Na’ title song. The song is fast and has a terrific rhythm to it. This will be a sure hit with the youngsters.

Kichu Kichu (Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vasundhara Das)
Vasundhra Das has a magnetic voice and Yuvan has used it very effectively. The song , compared to the rest of the songs is slow but packs a punch with the constant bass beat in the background. The orchestration skill of Yuvan is again the winner here.

Odum Varayil (Kay Kay, Bela Shende)
Another fast song sung by the awesome Kay Kay with Beia giving him company. A metal guitar is the star of the song . Beia again reminds me of Shreya Ghosal. The song transforms into a melody in the middle and Beia is in her elements at that point.

Hey, Baby(Shankar Mahadevan)
I think this is the first time Yuvan has stepped into Jazz music and he has done a commendable job . Shankar Mahadevan as usual is electrifying and uses his heavy bass voice to suit the mood of the song. The Hindi version of this song’s visual was a terrific hit . Hopefully the same happens in the Tamil version.

Yahoo (Sathyan, Ranjith, Naveen, Suvi)
Sleek orchestration and youthful singers make this song memorable. This song is also a fast paced , rhythmic song about life in the college campus.

I would consider this album to be a mixed bag as I could not remember any of the songs even though I enjoyed the album when I was actually listening to the songs.

It is worth buying the CD.It will be a big help in the dance floors

Yuvan Shankar Raja is known for his peppy beats and high pitch vocals. Saroja is no different. This is one of the much anticipated music releases of 2008 as the music of Chennai 600028 was a roaring success.

Dosth Bada Dosth (Haricharan, Naveen, Rahul Nambiar )
Haricharan leads this talented bunch of singers to sing this peppy and rhythmic song about friendship. The music arrangements remind me of the popular Brit group Pet Shop Boys. There is the usual bass guitar interlude which is typical of Yuvan. This is the best song of the album by a long distance and there is a definite possibility that it might climb up the charts in the coming weeks.
You can listen to the song Here

Kodana Kodi (Mohammad Aslam, Ranina, Kavi)
The Kuthu song of the album. The song has an Arabic taste to it and is very similar to the Sei song from Billa. The music arrangement is very interesting and the hymn bit adds flavor to the song. Overall this is an average song made interesting by Yuvan’s skill in mixing. You can listen to the song Here

Nimirindhu Nil (Shankar Mahadevan)
This must be the title song of the movie. The lyrics are very good and Shankar Mahadevan is able to provide the energy required to infuse the right spirit to the song. The song will definitely grow on you.

Aaja Meri Soniye (Vijay Jesudas, S.P.B.Charan, Prem G Amaran)
A typical wedding song. The song is pleasing to the ear but does not really stand apart.

Cheeky Cheeky (Yuvanshankar Raja, Matilda, Nirdhiya)
This is a very interesting song. If you are are not careful you might end up thinking it is a English song. I am not sure how the audience is going to react to this kind of music . If you are fed on a steady diet of MTV this song might appeal to you.

My Life (Tanvi)
This is a complete English song.Yuvan has tried his luck with heavy metal . He must be appreciated for this effort even though one might question the arrangements. Hardcore heavy metal fans might not be thrilled but for others this might be a unique experience.

The album does not live up to the expectation but it is definitely worth listening.
