unnaipol-oruvan-02

Unnaipol Oruvan (English: Someone Like You) is a forthcoming bilingual Indian film directed by Chakri Toleti, starring Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in the lead role. Earlier titled as Thalaivan Irukiran in Tamil, the film will be made in Tamil and Telugu (as Eenadu) .Venkatesh plays the same role as Mohanlal in the Telugu version. The film, a remake of the 2008 Bollywood film, A Wednesday!, directed by Neeraj Pandey, began its filming in March 2009 and is to be released on September 18, 2009.

Allah Jaane ( Kamal Hassan)
A pathos song composed by Manyusha Puthran. Kamal has tried his best to convey the emotions faced by people struck by terrorism/war. The lyrics are very simple and will make people think.

Allah Jaane 2 ( Shruthi Hassan)
A decent remix. Shruthi’s voice makes this trance song unique.

Nilai Varumaa (Bombay Jayashree, Kamal Haasan)
Bombay Jayashree and Kamal Hassan render this situational song . Kamal has handled the lyrics as well. There is nothing really outstanding about this song. Kamal has taken a dig at religion and the destructive conflicts it creates. The heavy metal guitar is predominant throughout the song. Jayashree’s deep voice fits the bill perfectly.

Unnai Pol Oruvan (Shruthi Haasan, Akshara Haasan, Subbalakshmi)

A song sung by Kamal Hassan’s entire family , this piece has a heavy rock interlude. Kamal has penned the lyrics for this song as well. Kamal’s frustrations with religious conflicts has been vetted out in this song.

Vaanam Ellai…Illai (Shruti Haasan, Blaaze)
The only non-Rock song in this album has Blaaze with his heavy vocal rapping to this hip hop song . Shruti has contributed with the vocals as well. The tune is definitely catchy and the arrangements are perfect.

Overall this is a hard hitting album with lyrics against war and violence and in particular the destruction unleashed in the name of religion. This album will hold a special place in my collection as it is truly reflective of my perspective towards life.

Shruthi has done a fabulous job. I think she has modeled her music around the Rock genre and you can easily see it in every single composition She is definitely not your average music composer. She is more like a Chris Daughtry , who in American idol transformed every genre to rock and stuck to his real self. Shruthi has the talent to go all the way.

A must buy !
