Yennai Theriyuma – Music Review
Posted by Anandhan Subbiah on Sep 18, 2008 in Featured, Movies, Music • 4 commentsAchu is the music director and he has pleasantly surprised me with this very impressive score on debut. Achu is from the Rehman music school and I am sure his mentor must have been very impressed with his students first outing.
Enna Matromo (Karthik and Bombay Jayashree)
A very plesant song with very good lyrics. Karthik has sung this song with the talented Jayshree. The song starts with a impressive piano piece with Karthik slowly gets into the song. Jayshree with her mesmerizing voice completes this song. The lyrics are beautiful as well making this song stand out as one of the best songs of the album.
Yennai Theriyuma (Bhavan)
This is a remix of a famous old song with the same name. Bhavan , a new comer has sung this song with a lot of enthusiasm.
Oh My Love ( Sunitha Sarathy, Achu)
A hip-hop romantic number. The melody is intact amidst all the heavy orchestration. This will be a welcome addition to the dance floors. The music director could have experimented a little less. The lyrics are a mix of Tamil and English.
Thanni Karuthirichi ( Simbu,Vineetha)
The kuthu paatu of the album. This is again a remix of a yesteryear hit. Simbu performs as expected with a lot of gusto as required by songs of this genre. The orchestration reminds me of Yuvan but credit must be given to Achu for making the song his own. Vineetha has player her part to perfection.
Theme Music ( Achu)
An impressive Violin and flute make up for this theme music by Achu. This is a gentle rehash of the very famous Poovae Sembovae song , a Illayaraja master piece .The flute piece is reminiscent of Rehman so you get to see the best of both worlds.
Yennai Theriyuma (Naveen , Ranjith)
This song reminds me of a song from the hindi movie Race . Achu seems to have made some modifications to make it suitable for the tamil audience. It will be very difficult to determine that this is indeed a remix as Achu has mixed the song really well with impressive violin and heavy guitar.
Oor Parvai ( Sriram Parthasarathy)
Sriram the talented singer has sung this song . The pace of the song varies all the time making it difficult for the listen . Still, its steady rhythm and simple, romantic lyrics make it worth a listen.
Yedho Yedho ( Premji , Harini)
A country guitar kicks of the song only to become a hip hop song. Premji is perfect for the song . Harini is impressive but seems to struggle with the higher pitch. The instrumentation is decent.
Overall an impressive debut by Achu but he has to concentrate more on delivering original and new music right from the tunes to the orchestration.

Hi there,
I personally think that this one of the most damn refreshing soundtracks i have heard in sometime. Kudos to Achu for this effort, given that this is the first movie he is composing music for.
Definitely looking forward to the visuals to this movie, hope it doesn’t disappoint for the songs.
I somehow get reminded of Dharan, the music director, when i listen to these songs…..I dunno why
