Yogi – Tamil Music Review

Yogi is Yuvan’s new album. There is a lot of expectation around this movie. I am not a big fan of Ameer the director as he tends to preach a lot for a guy wanting to make a living out of movies. I am sure if folks need advice on how to lead a good life they will not be sitting in a movie theater or listen to film directors. There is a difference in trying to influence people with a good message and trying to impose upon them.Maybe I am tired of these guys who are so under qualified but think that they are so smart and perfect that they think they can start preaching whenever they get a chance. Raijni started this mess and now we are stuck with these guys trying to tell us what is right and wrong. I really do like good movies ( Anbe Sivam is one of my all time favorite movie ) but at the end of the day Kamal made a terrific movie and did not show up in every possible event and tell us what is good and bad. Either way Yuvan does not have a lot of opportunity in this album but he has composed a decent album with some unique orchestration.

Yogi Yogi Thaan(Blazee, Neha Bhasin)
The title song of the album is really loud. Yuvan’s terrific orchestration is the only saving grace.

Yogi Theme- Sarangi(Ustad Sultan Khan)
This is yet another flavor of the title song but I did not find anything innovative.

Seermevum Koovathiley(Ameer, Naveen, Snehan and Jijuba)
A unique Kuthu song and it starts with interesting beats but that’s where the fun stops at least for me.This is not really my brand of music so I was desperately looking for the remote.

Yaarodu Yaaro(Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ustad Sultan Khan)
A slow pathos song . Ustad Sultan Khan is terrific and I really wish Yuvan stops singing. He is a terrific music composer but his delivery style leaves a lot to be desired.

Yogi ( Theme music)
The instrumental version of the title song is the best of the lot. Yuvan has done a Ilayaraja with an amazing flute and violin masterpiece.

I am sure the songs will make more sense when we watch the movie but I would not recommend this album just based on the quality of the music.
